نهنگهای قاتل، مانند عموزداه‌های دلفینشان جانورانی به شدت صوتی هستند و با سوت و کلیک با پروسه ای که اکو لوکیشن نام دارد با یکدیگر ارتباط میگیرند. نهنگهای قاتل در هنگام شکار در پر سو و صدا ترین شرایط خود قرار میگیرند و در حالت استراحت خیلی ساکت و آرام‌تر هستند. دیده شده در هنگام شرکت فعالیتهای مختلف اصوات متفاوتی ایجاد میکنند.

Killer whales are known to use different sounds when the killer whales are participating in different activities.
